Our Story
Hurricanes and tropical storms cause catastrophic damage, displacing families and entire communities. Big Storm Woodworks helps with cleanup after these disasters — but the story doesn't end there.
We carefully select the usable portions of storm remnants and transform downed logs into products while tracking each step in the process. Every beam in your pole barn would have been sent to a landfill. The charcuterie board on your dining room table would have been mulched. Your grandchildren might serve dinner on a table made from wood that would otherwise have been burned in someone's yard.
From Storm to Story
Source
Storms happen and trees come down. Tree service companies fell hazards in preparation. We work with communities and contractors across Florida to collect logs that would otherwise go to waste.
Mill
Each log is milled into slabs, lumber, cants, and craft materials. We document the species, dimensions, and origin so every board is traceable back to the tree it came from.
Dry & Prepare
Wood is air-dried or kiln-dried depending on end use. We surface and finish material as needed — or leave it rough-sawn for customers who want to do their own finishing.
New Purpose
From structural timbers and industrial lumber to artisan furniture and one-of-a-kind live edge pieces — every product carries the full history of where it came from and every step along the way.
Why Provenance Matters
Every piece in our inventory has a story you can trace. We record the storm or salvage event that brought the tree down, the operators who helped transport and mill it, and every processing step in between. When you buy from Big Storm Woodworks, you know exactly where your wood came from.
